Bootcamp Description

Work the System Boot Camp

Update 11/18/2009 Our most recent boot camp was Monday and Tuesday, November 16th (full day) and 17th (1/2 day), 2009, in Bend, Oregon. It was a special “free” program. We have no boot camps scheduled for the immediate future.

FYI, following is the information we published for the above session.

Note from Sam: Following is a formal summary but remember the Boot Camp will be informal! Before, I was charging $2,000 per person but we’ve changed things to take the pressure off and just have fun. For me, it’s not about the money. I make enough with my other business. By offering this get-together for free, I can relax and talk about my favorite subject with good people just like you. Bend IS a great place to visit, with over 300 sunny days per year and at an invigorating elevation of 3,500 feet. It’s dry on this side of the Cascade Mountains! Bring your skiis, golf clubs, bicycles, kayaks, fishing poles, hiking boots, climbing gear or just hang out downtown and in Drake Park. There’s also great shopping and excellent eating. So, come to have fun with the bonus of going home with a dynamic new perspective on work AND life! Go to www.visitbend.com for comprehensive information regarding Bend and Central Oregon. -sc

The formal summary: How would it feel to wake in the morning relaxed, with no pressing urgencies and more money than you need? What if you could reduce your workweek to just a few hours, or propel yourself up the corporate ladder at a blistering pace? What if you could get what you want?

Sam Carpenter, author of the book Work the System: The Simple Mechanics of Making More and Working Less, whittled his 80– to 100-hour workweeks down to 2 hours and multiplied his income “beyond what is necessary.” With a blue-collar background, Sam struggled to hold things together until, at 50 years of age, he embraced and then applied certain fundamental business strategies — strategies used by large, successful businesses everywhere. His methodology is common-sense, practical and simple and can be applied to any business or corporate department. The Work the System Boot Camp is presented with the sole intent of moving the participant from chaos to control; from barely getting by, to affluence. Anyone can apply these strategies!

Launch your own business or department into an organized, efficient, profitable organism. Maximize your efficiency and productivity, and propel yourself far ahead of your competitors! Register for Sam’s life-changing, two-day Work The System Boot Camp.

Why would you want to attend the Boot Camp? If you’ve read Sam’s book, Work the System: The Simple Mechanics of Making More and working Less, you will understand the thrust of the Boot Camp and what it can mean for your organization. Designed for the small business owner or corporate department manager, this two-day, intensive, intimate-group program goes to the heart of the WTS process. All elements of the methodology will be addressed with plenty of Q&A time and interaction with Sam. The Boot Camp will precisely guide you through the entire process from the “get it” phase, to implementing the methodology,  to training your staff to do the initial heavy lifting, to on-going maintenance and “tweaking.”

There will be special emphasis on the “getting it” aspect: (“Once one has the belief lodged in the belly, rather than an idea learned in the head, the rest comes naturally…”), as well as how to encourage and convince staff to “get it,” too. Sam will thoroughly discuss hiring guidelines to help insure you employ and retain people who will naturally assume your newfound “outside and slightly elevated” vantage point. Everything Sam covers will be pointed toward preventing the day-to-day fire killing found too often in small business or even in departments of large, relatively successful corporations. The ultimate goal? To stop fire-killing in order to spend time on system improvement, thus making your business efficient and profitable.

The program will provide you with all the tools you need to start “making more and working less.” Turn your hard work into smart work. Expect a day and a half of eye-opening, rigorous, get-down-to-it pragmatism. Come mentally and physically prepared to focus, and ready to tackle your own most sensitive business/work issues and you’ll walk away with potent tools to maximize efficiency and productivity and propel you far ahead of your industry competitors. You will leave with a different perspective of your life and work.

Cost and logistics: The Boot Camp is $100 for the first attendee, $75 for each additional, to cover meeting room rental, two meals (lunch the first day, breakfast the second), an author-autographed hard cover edition of Work the System, and comprehensive work book that will guide you in making immediate  improvements when you return home.

Note: Lodging, travel, and personal expenses are not included. Payment for the program must be received in advance. If you plan on attending, REGISTER NOW. Click here to register for the Boot Camp.

This is important: Travel, lodging and misc. arrangement details are up to you! The meeting space will be occupied by Sam and whomever shows up! No frills! But, as you prepare to attend, don’t hesitate to reach us if you have questions.

Included in the Boot Camp is a lunch (the first day), breakfast (the second day), and refreshments. Each attendee will receive a signed copy of Work the System. Registration and information packet pick-up will be on Monday the 16th, from 7:30a.m. to 8 a.m., at The Riverhouse. We recommend you make your lodging and flight reservations early!

This is important: We will be working hard to start sessions precisely on time.

About Sam Carpenter: Telecommunications expert and successful entrepreneur/multi-business owner, Sam is author of the book, Work the System: The Simple Mechanics of Making More and Working Less. First self-published in April 2008, and is now published by Greenleaf Book Group. Sam is President and CEO of Centratel, the number one telephone answering service in the nation, located in Bend. He’s also founder and president of Kashmir Family Aid, a 501c3 non-profit with the purpose of assisting school children in northern Pakistan and in Azad Kashmir.

How to get to Bend: We recommend flying into the Redmond, Oregon airport (RDM). At the airport, rent a car for the 15 mile drive to Bend. Another alternative is to fly into the Portland airport (PDX) which will mean a 3 ½ hour, 160 mile drive to Bend (if you do this, we recommend you drive during day-light hours…it’s a beautiful journey).

Where to stay once you’re here: The Riverhouse, where the conference will be held, is located near the Rivers Edge Golf Course at the north end of Bend. See www.riverhouse.com for complete information. The Riverhouse is great but there are many other great options. Also check the Visit Bend website.
